Celebrating 100% attendance for 5 Years
On 19th November Mr Clarke proudly presented Thomas Johnson with certificates and vouchers honouring him not having had a day off school for 5 years.
Thomas joined Kingsbury School in September 2010 and since then has not had a single day off school. Thomas was the only student who left in July 2015 to have achieved this. Mr Clarke presented him with WHSmith vouchers and a certificate recognising this fantastic achievement.
Year 11 Leavers Ball 2016
Details have been sent home regarding the annual leavers ball in July 2016.
Students and parents/carers are advised that they can pay for the event via Gateway but still need to return their slip to school confirming if they are attending and with their choice of food options.
AS Level Geography Students visit Preston Montford Outdoor Activity Centre
The trip on 16 November 2015 involved a small number of AS students.
The day was an extremely valuable learning experience with all students getting involved and gaining from the opportunity to undertake practical tasks.
Sixth formers master Shakespeare.
Year 12 and Year 13 Students attended an English Literature masterclass titled How to read a Shakespeare at the University of Birmingham.
Dr Kate Rumbold, Lecturer in English Literature lead the session on 18 November 2015.
The students were organised into groups so they had the opportunity to meet students from other schools. The students explored Shakespeare’s language, analysed Shakespeare’s sources, studied Shakespeare’s use of genres and considered a play in performance.
The whole session was a huge success.

Former year 11’s turn out for awards evening
Our annual awards evening was held on Wednesday 11th November 2015.
In excess of 150 former students and their families joined staff and governors to collect their hard earned CGSE certificates and be presented with awards for subject effort. We also presented selected students with trophies and awards for individual recognition in certain areas, including The Governors award for service to the School and The Principals award for outstanding contribution to music and performing arts.
Two students, Brittany Beards and Alexander Rogers also received certificates for achieving 100% attendance during the academic year 2014-2015. In addition Thomas Johnson is being recognised separately for 100% attendance during his entire 5 years at Kingsbury School.
The evening was opened by Mollie Hewish playing “Your Song” by Elton John.
