Year 8 powerboat racer has further success.

Harvey Smith (Year 8) continues to do well at his chosen sport. The race report below details his recent success;

“The second round of this seasons Powerboat GP RYA British National Championship was at Carr Mill Dam St Helens this piece of water is one of our test venues, Saturday was bright and sunny with qualifying for the GT15 class later in the morning schedule.

Harvey immediately went out and was again straight on a fast pace, he spent most of the 20 minute session putting in consistent laps in the perfect conditions gaining 3rd place on the grid with work to do.

Race 1 saw him arrive at the first turn by the boat in third position this was his position for the remainder of race one.

Race 2 on a fine Sunday morning saw Harvey once again in the number 3 spot on the starting grid, he left the dock alongside the 2 leaders and all 3 arrived at the  the first mark together and decided to take wide line and made a great move to put him in second place, with the 3rd place boat in close attendance and after a hard battle for all of the race, Harvey took second place at the flag.

Race 3, but this time starting in second position, chasing the lead boat down and remaining on his tail for the whole 6 laps, this time the 3rd place boat was trailing behind, but again after the 6 laps where complete Harvey finished in 2nd place, giving him second overall for the meeting but because of the points tally droping him to 3rd in the overall standings in the championship keeping  him in a strong position ready for round 3.

Harvey is looking forward to round three of the Championship at his home race, Kingsbury Water Park on 2nd/3rd July.  This will be the true home round for Harvey as he lives and goes to school in Kingsbury village and he is hoping to secure his first British Championship overall victory.

Letters were distributed today (7/6/16) to students regarding the proposed Ski Trip for 2017/18.

There was insufficient interest to enable a trip to America to go ahead so an alternative trip to Europe has been proposed.  Further details can be found on the attached letter.  Please contact Mr Court with any queries.
