Developing the creativity of each pupil.

Key stage 3

Key stage 3 Art - One hour curriculum time per week for each pupil.

All pupils follow a curriculum which includes

  • Drawing
  • Painting
  • Print
  • Sculpture work

These are undertaken in a variety of forms and revisited from year seven until year nine. This gives each pupil the opportunity to improve and develop skills to a sufficiently high standard to be able to take Art as a G.C.S.E option in year ten.  Pupils who practice their skills outside the classroom as well as within obviously develop skills and style to a higher level but by the end of year nine it is possible to get a G.C.S.E from following the curriculum.

Homework is an important part of the Art curriculum. Pupils have a sketchbook to complete this work. It is set each week and it is expected that pupils spend at least half an hour on it. We also have a lunch time club where pupils can choose to do their homework if they wish.

All work is kept in a folder throughout lower school. Pupils complete self evaluation sheets and work is assessed at the end of each project. At the end of year nine they are given a level.
