  Making IT! Count

In Years 9 and 10 pupils follow the Edexcel suite of ICT qualifications called DiDA:

‘DiDA qualifications prepare students for the real world of work or further education.  They are designed to stimulate students’ creativity and develop real-world, practical skills that will motivate learning across a wide range of subjects.

As a suite of qualifications, DiDA offers progression from the Award (AiDA), which is equivalent to one GCSE, to the Certificate (CiDA), and on to the full Diploma (DiDA), equivalent to four GCSEs.’ http://dida.edexcel.org.uk/home/

Software to support the course has been purchased and can be loaded on your home computer so that pupils can prepare for the qualification both at home and at school.  Disks can be borrowed from the school learning resource centre.  Progress can also be monitored via the Internet at http://dida.varndean.net/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fdefault.aspx , your child will need to log you on…

The course is assessed by a Summative  Project which takes a minimum of 30 hours to complete, pupils are aware of the level they are to be entered and follow the project requirements on line the current live project can be found at http://dida.edexcel.org.uk/home/spb/0906-spbs/unit1spb0906/

Further information can be viewed on this presentation.

Year 11 pupils are completing the OCR Short Course in ICT (Spec A) or the full course if it was chosen as an option.  The deadline is Christmas for projects 1a and 1b.
