7, 8 and 9
All pupils follow the ‘Expo!’ French course.
This, along with other materials, broadly
follows the QCA scheme of work and covers a total of
18 different Units (6 per year).French is taught for
two hours every week to all pupils in Year 7 and
Year 8.
At present Spanish is introduced to all pupils for
one hour a week in Year 8, currently using the ‘Listos’
course.
Pupils are taught in mixed-ability tutor groups in
Year 7 and then in ability groupings in Years 8 and
9. Pupils are continuously assessed in MFL and are
expected to progress through the levels in the four
Attainment Targets of Listening, Speaking, Reading
and Writing.
Pupils are encouraged to analyse and evaluate
their performance throughout Key Stage 3.
