The internet is a widely used tool, which gives us access to a comprehensive variety of material.  Most of this material is regarded as educational, informative and entertaining.  However this type of information network is also open to abuse.  It may be in the form of pornography, paedophilia or bullying.  One of the most prevalent risks to children on the Internet is exposure to inappropriate material that is sexual, hateful or violent, or encourages activities that are dangerous or illegal.  It is therefore important that we, as parents and carers educate ourselves in the use of this technology and know how to best protect our children in today's technological environment.  Only then will we be able to ensure that our children have a beneficial and interactive experience that complements their education and  entertainment experiences.

The purpose of this page is to inform both parents / carers and children of available resources to help bridge the awareness gap.  If your child attends Kingsbury School and require any assistance, advice or training please complete the form below.

Kingsbury School - Promoting Internet Safety

At most events, including parents evenings, we will be promoting internet safety for parents.  This may be in the form of a promotion stand or staff advisors.  If you have any internet safety questions, our staff will do their best to advise you or refer you to the appropriate organisation which can help.

Web blogs

A blog is an online journal which can usually contains information relevant to the creator. Young people see it a place to hang out with friends. A child site may include music, photos, videos and graphics.  It becomes a place where they can express their tastes, feelings and opinions with other people they know and people they may not from around the world and herein lies the danger.  Young people must be aware that whatever information they post about themselves or others is available to a worldwide audience.  It is therefore important that your child 'thinks before they post'.

For more information please refer to the 'Blog Safety' Leaflet supplied by the school.  If you have not received this leaflet or require an additional copy please contact the school.
