In September 2006, Kingsbury School was designated a Science and Mathematics College.  This status allows the Science department to fulfil a very clear and challenging vision.

As a Specialist Science college we aim to create a visible scientific ethos that is understood clearly by pupils, parents and the wider community. We aim to enhance the enthusiasm, aspirations and motivation of pupils studying Science in school and hence increase the take up of Science in post-16 courses of study, starting some pupils on the pathway to becoming Scientists of the future.  We believe that Science has a vast contribution to make as it can prepare our pupils for the technological and scientifically rich world of the future.  We use our Science status to ensure that our pupils perceive Science as a valuable subject for their development as a person and as a serious consideration for future career options.  We aim to raise attainment in Science by providing enrichment opportunities for all and by extending our provision at GCSE level to include vocational elements as well as additional academic courses.  We work closely with local businesses, Connexions, the Warwickshire Education Partnership and further education providers to enable pupils to understand the wide range of careers and courses that are linked to Science.

At Kingsbury School we have a strong tradition of working with our partner primary schools to ensure transition from Key Stage 2-3 is a positive experience for the pupils.  Our Specialist School status enables us to develop these links both within and beyond the curriculum.  We are developing the Key Stage 2 curriculum with our partner primary schools by providing enrichment events and support that enhances teaching and learning, thereby raising their attainment. Pupils are inspired through Science activities before they reach Key Stage 3.
