Cross Country Success for Year 8 student

Katie Stretton (Year 8) took part in the West Midlands Cross Country league on 17 January and finished 3rd for the Tamworth team.

Despite muddy and cold conditions Katie came 54th out of 114 overall and 3rd for the Tamworth team.  We are extremely proud of the sporting achievements of our students and recognise the hard work and determination needed to compete in such conditions.

Well done Katie.

Important information regarding payments for trips and activities

Please note that if your child wishes to go on a trip or take part in an activity that requires payment, this must be received by the Deadline given.

Students who have not paid by the deadline given for that trip or activity will not be permitted to attend.  Many activities require the up front payment of admissions or tickets and as such these cannot be paid for unless payment has been received for all students wishing to attend.

Anyone wishing to apply for assistance with payments can do so through the Clare Bacciochi fund, details of which can be obtained from the school office.

Thank you.

Kingsbury awards first STAR awards

In September 2015 we introduced a STAR awards system to recognise progress in specific subjects. On our return to the Spring term, awards were given out for progress made during the Autumn term.

Awards are given based on excellence in a specific subject in which students have made exceptional progress or are exceeding their target grades already.

Bronze STAR awards are given to those students who have been nominated in one subject.

Silver STAR awards are given to those students who have been nominated in two subjects.

Gold STAR awards are given to those students who have been nominated in three subjects.

Triple STAR awards are given to those students who have been nominated in more than three subjects.

Please see the attached Gold, Silver, Bronze and Triple award winners for Autumn term 2015.

Kingsbury students donate Christmas hampers to the elderly.

Before Christmas each form group at Kingsbury school were asked to put together a Christmas Hamper that would be delivered to Kingsbury Methodist Church to hand out to the elderly and most in need around the local area.

Each form group made an exceptional effort with their Christmas Hampers and the Church were overwhelmed by the generosity shown by staff, parents and students around the school.

Mr Cope, Head of Capella House said “I would personally like to extend my gratitude to the parents and students for making such an overwhelming contribution to this fantastic cause.”

SEN Students showcase their talent

On 11th December 2015 we held a talent exhibition showcasing the work of over 50 of or SEN students.

The exhibition included work from across the curriculum.  Principal, Mr Clarke stated;
“I am so proud of our SEN children and the work they have displayed today.  The exhibits demonstrate the hard work and effort the students have put into their education and we like to encourage students to develop their talents to the best of their abilities.”
Kingsbury school has an SEN policy that seeks to enable and empower those students who have Special Educational Needs, whatever they may be, to achieve the best possible outcomes, and to prepare them for adulthood.
