Chair of Governors
Helen is a specialist English language and literature consultant who has been working with teachers and senior leaders in schools and colleges for many years and joined Kingsbury School as a parent governor in 2018 before being appointed to Chair in January 2020.
Helen currently works as a mentor, assessor and facilitator on several National Professional Qualification programs on Leading Teacher Development and Leading Literacy. She leads the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors (CIEA) national secondary program supporting headteachers and senior teachers and works for the Universities of Surrey and Sussex on their Area Outreach Program and Higher Education Outreach Network (HEON) programs and is a member of Ofqual’s panel of experts. In addition, Helen writes, plans and delivers English Language and Literature Teacher Training nationally.
Helen has worked with a huge variety of organisations including the Education and Training Foundation, PiXL, the Association of Colleges, The Skills and Education Network, on a variety of action research projects for the Outstanding and Teaching, Learning and Assessment (OTLA) and lastly as a consultant for a government-funded Opportunity Area Program across Stoke on Trent. Helen also works as a teacher-trainer and was previously a Principal Examiner for GCSE and A level English literature.
